Saturday Part II

This morning after Lowe's Greg and Uncle David and our neighbor continued their weekly tradition of working on the shed. From what I understand, this week they put up the shelves inside and finished spraying in the foam stuff to make the shed water proof. They all had a good time and I think Greg and our neighbor are becoming friends...he's already committed himself to coming over next Saturday to help out! I will take pictures of the inside of the shed later and post them...

This afternoon after Lowe's and the men working and kids napping...

...we headed to Disneyland. Today was the day our passes expired and so we wanted to make one last "Hoorah!" We also wanted Karyl to see the Electrical Parade again...last summer we were there every Saturday night it seemed like for her to watch the parade and she LOVED it!! She still loves it, and now she's not afraid to stand and wave at the people on the floats. For those who are wondering, yes, we will be renewing the passes....just not right now. It's too hot and there are just too many people there during summer to make it worthwhile, we'll wait until it cools down a little and school starts back up so we can have the park to ourselves again!!

Anyways, we had a fun time and here are some pics from Karyl's Happiest Place on Earth!

Hi daddy!!

"No grandpa, the ice cream is THIS way..."
Mommy and Karyl waiting for the Electrical Parade to begin

THANK YOU AUNTIES FOR MY BALLOON!!!
This balloon had a LED light in it that made it change colors and she LOVED it. We got home and had to sneak it away because she wanted to play with it and not go to bed!!

Also, they have re-vamped the Electrical Parade this year....they took out a few of the floats and added some new ones. Tried to take pics but the memory card was filling up fast...we'll get some next time, or better yet, go see them for yourself!!

Then, if Disneyland wasn't excitement enough on the way home we ran into a patch of trouble on the ever wonderful 91 freeway...luckily, we ALWAYS jump in the Fastrack lane when we're all together since the 3+ lane is free and this time it saved us what would have been HOURS stopped on the 91. The entire freeway was CRAWLING from before the 55 freeway and we even stopped at one point in the Express Lanes, long enough for me to get out of the car, open the back of the van, and take out the camera (we figured if the Express Lanes were stopped, this was going to be a good accident). Well, we were only stopped for about 4 minutes, then our lanes started moving again and we were pretty close to the police break, so we finally got a view of what was going on!! All the cars had been moved to the side, but the other 4 or 5 lanes of the 91 were blocked...they weren't letting ANYONE through, there was glass and all kinds of debris all over the regular lanes. We felt SOOOOO bad for all those people. No one wants to be stuck on the 91 at 11:45 at night on a Saturday! So we zoomed on past the police break and I tried to get a picture of possibly the eeriest thing I've ever seen....the 91 freeway completely black, no cars outside the Express Lanes. That's a scene that will get your attention....staring down the 91 and not seeing a single set of brake lights!!
I know, bad picture, but you can see there are headlights coming at us, but NO brakelights to the right...creepy, huh?!?!

Lowe's Kid's Clinic

This morning Greg and Uncle David took Karyl to Lowe's for the Saturday morning tradition....
Today they made a pirate treasure chest, or as we like to call it around here,
a "Booty Containment Device"
In case you're confused, booty is another term for pirate treasure...and it's a treasure chest...so it holds treasure, or "booty"....
Sorry, had to explain just in case....

Happy Birthday Grandma M

So today was my mom's birthday and we went with her to Disneyland!! She hasn't been since we were kids and since our passes don't expire until Saturday we were able to go with her so she could take advantage of the free ticket!! We only went for a few hours, but had fun and here are a few cute pictures of her with the kids (well mostly Karyl since Freddie was under the protective shade of the stroller...the last thing I want is a sunburned baby!!!!)

While there we rode It's a Small World, the Merry-Go-Round and The Jungle Cruise

Then we took Grandma M out for a Birthday Lunch to Ruby's and she and Karyl had fun talking together and goofing off

Then to end the day the kids and I picked up Daddy from work and hit Costco for dinner on the way home...Karyl and Daddy were having way too much fun with that ice cream!!

And this pic is for Grandma B...Karyl LOVES these shoes!! They irritated her heels and I was worried she wouldn't want to wear them again, but nope, they are the only shoes she wants to wear right now...I put some moleskin in to help and hopefully it does!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA M!!!

A weekend to celebrate!!

This past weekend was packed with everything from Kid's Clinics to an Angel's Game and even a day at Disneyland to celebrate the "Auntie's" birthdays....here is how the weekend went down...

Friday, July 3rd
The kids and I visited with everyone that was in town....Fredrick and his great-grandma had a fun time together!!

And she wore him out!!

Saturday the 4th of July

This was a FULL day, so I will let the pictures do most of the talking and make comments to clarify where necessary!!

Morning...

The 4th started with a trip to Home Depot for the Kid's Clinic, where Karyl made a "picnic basket/tray."

We had fun and even Freddie got an apron!!

We also got to meet up with an old friend of Greg's and mine from back in High School. Mele and her husband live out here, less than 2 miles from us, and so far we've only met up at Church a few times, but finally we were able to meet up outside of Church. She and her husband brought their 3 kids one of her younger sisters to build something too!! We had an AWESOME time with them and look forward to lots more goofing off and laughter with her family in the future!!

Afternoon...

Once we were able to tear ourselves away from Mele's family, we headed home to get ready for the rest of the day....Greg did some work in the yard and I worked on some stuff around the house. Then, when Greg was done it was so hot that he decided to "take a leap" and be the first one to try our pool. Aside from it needing to be filtered a little more and cleaned, he loved it!! Oh, and that pool cover...totally works to keep the pool warm, you will NEVER need a pool filter with one of these covers, and we rarely have to fill it since it can't evaporate through the cover!!

Karyl REALLY wanted to get in, Daddy had to convince her that it was too warm for her to swim in (yes, the cover makes it that warm!!).

Evening...

On to the Angel's Game...we met Greg's family there and it was a great game (we creamed the Orioles!!). Freddie was much better behaved than I ever imagined and he even took 2 naps (I had to wander the halls with him so he didn't hear all the screaming, but there were lots of TVs around so I didn't miss the action. He even enjoyed the Fireworks show and didn't cry once, just stared at them!!

Michael Johns from American Idol, Season 7 sang the National Anthem!

Then, they unfurled this GIANT flag on the field....

Then this GIGANTIC Boeing flew overhead in honor of the 4th!! This picture doesn't do it justice, it flew RIGHT over our seats and it put goosebumps on my arms, it was AWESOME!!

To Grandma B...sorry, I can't crop the pictures on the blog, and this was such a cute pic of Greg and Freddie....

And then there were the fireworks....one of the main reasons we went to the game on the 4th!!

Oh, and while there I got to meet up with yet another friend from High School, Melayne. We haven't seen each other in at least 6 years!! It was awesome to see her and get to talk!!

And to end the night we found the car, put the kids in their PJs and sat and watched a movie in the van. No one was going ANYWHERE in that parking lot! Finally after about 45 minutes we snaked through to the back of the lot and found the 57 freeway...which was PACKED.....then to the ever so wonderful 91 freeway....thank goodness for the Express Lanes, sorry to anyone we flew by that was sitting in that traffic!!

Sunday, July 5th

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHERYL, CHRISTINE and CARRI!!!

Here are some pics of us from the Happiest Place on Earth!!

Karyl has been wanting one of these lollipops forever but we keep putting her off...well, she went into the candy shop with Grandpa while Greg and I walked towards the front of the park and this is what we saw when they came trotting up...

Happy birthday to Greg's sisters, my favorite sister-in-laws, and Karyl's Aunties!!!

Oh, and as a side note...I had a major breakthrough this weekend, I FINALLY bought a pair of real jeans!! I finally decided I had been wearing the maternity jeans long enough...4 months after a baby is a little too long to try and pass off the elastic belly =)

Sunday naughtiness

Sunday Karyl figured out that those markers she has been playing with color on more than paper....
Luckily, through all his laughter and frustration Greg thought to take a picture so I could see when I got home from choir practice (the director in our ward had her baby early and apparently I am the new stand-in when she is gone...)
Apparently those Dora markers are washable, because when I got home to take everyone to church her hands were pretty much clean...good job Daddy!!!
By the way, keep scrolling down, there have been a few posts in the last few days and there are some great pictures!!
Oh, and I've been slacking on the Twilight quotes, mostly because I don't want anyone to make fun of me for being so obsessed with the series...but it appears it's too late, I'm already being made fun of, so here's another quote:
"And speaking of Italy and sports cars I stole there, you still owe me a yellow Porsche."
You have to love Alice!!

All Freddie wants for the 4th are his two front teeth...

And as of this afternoon, he has them!! His two bottom middle ones both poked a corner through this afternoon, which explains why he has been VERY cranky the past few days (Greg tried to tell me that's what it was...). There are no pictures because let's face it, trying to get a good look at his gums is tough without trying to keep him still enough to take a picture while keeping his mouth open...

When those teeth really become obvious we'll put pics up, until then, we're just excited and slightly shocked that he has broken his first of many teeth!! Way to go Freddie!!!
