Last night Greg and I went on a much needed "Date Night" and I took him to see the new movie 17 Again with Matthew Perry (Chandler from Friends) and the teeny-bopper sensation from High School Musical Zach Effron (pardon the spelling, I don't care about him enough to see how it is really spelled)...
Any way...the commercials for it made it look like a comedy at least and it appeared to have some good lines, so we went not expecting too much, but not expecting a complete failure. It was definitely a movie geared towards hormonal teenagers, but the language and some of the subject matter should have been dumbed down to reflect their target demographic. I was slightly shocked at some of the things they talked about in a movie based in a high school setting. Overall though the movie had some funny parts and we were definitely laughing a good portion of the time. The only real complaint I have is that I wish for some of these movies they had theaters for 21 and over...because EVERY time Mr. Teenage Heartthrob came on the scream the entire theater erupted in screams and gasps, it was annoying! It's amazing how many youth today have no respect for every one else around them. Oh well, what can you do?!?!
So, if you're thinking about going to see it, as long as your expectations aren't too high and you just want a good laugh, this is a good movie for you. Also, you have to not mind being thrown back mentally into your high school years...no matter what kind of kid you were in high school, this movie makes you feel like you're back there!!
Oh, and as far as the "moral of the story" goes...this one actually had a pretty good one...basically Matthew Perry's character realizes that he has great kids and that they needed him more than he realized. He also realizes that he had forgotten how great his wife was (and in turn, by the end I think his wife realizes the same thing about him). This movie is a GREAT one if you're like us and have kids because it really touches your heart in a few spots...in a way that you wouldn't understand if you didn't have children. It honestly made me a little nervous thinking about sending my children to high school now...so much more goes on than when we were there!!
Now go have a good laugh...you'll thank yourself for it afterwards!!

I already have enough fear about sending my kids to kindergarten, let alone high school! I don't know if I want another big reminder of that fear right now. :) Glad you got a date night out of it though!
This makes me sad...I absolutely LOVED the movie. I saw it last night also and thought it was great. I can't wait to go see it again. But I am also in love with Zac Efron. I know you are asking, "how old are you Tiersha?" but seriously I love him. I guess I didn't really catch a lot of what was said because other people have said similar things about the content and I don't remember. I need to go see it again I guess :)
